Oldies but Goldies!

Cliff and I have been enjoying several classic TV shows and movies lately.  Some of them...of course are Disney, but a few of them have been other new ones too!  We have gotten hooked on the Donna Reed Show.  They just started putting it out on DVD in the last year.  Season 1 came out October of 2008 and Season 2 came out in July of this year.  I just read that Season 3 is due out in October!!  Needless to say, we are excited!

A Disney movie that will be added to our favorite list is Third Man on the Mountain.  The lead character is James MacArthur.  For all you Disney fans out there, you will recognize him from Swiss Family Robinson.  Some how I missed that one growing up, but I definitely want to buy it.  Of course, you have to buy it on the internet.  I know you can get it at Walmart.com and another site for cheaper movies is Half.com.  It is powered by E-bay.

If you are looking for some of the oldies but goldies...give these a try!!

Shopping with the Girls!

Today I went shopping with Nancy, my former fourth grade team mate and also my classroom neighbor. She was a great neighbor who rescued me on several occasions from angry parents to watching my class while I took a very fast bathroom break!!

She has also moved to the DFW area, and we try and get together once a month. Today we went shopping at Historic Downtown Grapevine. I also had the joy of spending the afternoon with her darling grand-daughter, Natalie! She was a real trooper! We really had a great time visiting and shopping in all the quaint shops! Natalie made friends in every shop we went in, but who could resist that smile of hers! Of course, the one photo I got of her she was napping.

Walt Disney World 2009

Finally....I haven't added anything to my blog in forever!!! Well, Disney is worth getting a post! We went at the beginning of August, and had so much fun! I was able to go with my sis, Lynley, Leslie, Brenda, and some other friends from my church back home. It was kinda a reunion trip since the four of us have been together before!! We are true WDW fans, and can't wait till we can all go again!!

Fun with Friends

Saturday night Cliff and I caught up with some friends from our days in the Victory Temple youth group. Jessica and Jody Wright and Ruben and Angela Rodriguez have lived in the DFW area for years now, and we amazingly are living close to them again. We ate at Saltgrasss and then went on to Starbucks for coffee. Since I am not a coffee drinker and can't figure out why everyone goes crazy over Starbucks, I did find something I could get addicted to....Apple Chai tea. It was great! Anyway, we had a great time catching up on old times and just enjoyed hanging out with them.

Goodbye Gold!

The time has come for the gold to go away! We've already changed the gold light fixtures, and now we working on the last part...the knobs and hinges for all the doors. We are doing it a little at a time so I am having to be patient. This is really not that exciting to most people, but I am so glad it is going away even if it is a slow process! I have been looking forward to this day since we bought the house. What is really exciting is that I have changed out a lot of the knobs and hinges myself! I love using power tools, but I am not a pro! I get started and Cliff usually has to come bail me out! I look forward to trying to learn how to do more things as we remodel.

Here's some before and after pictures even though they are two different doors.

Fun Painting

Cliff and I took on the job of painting our house. I was a little unsure of the my color choice, but I do think that it is growing on me. I'm glad that I am liking it more because we used it in our den, breakfast room, kitchen, dining room, halls, and laundry room. So, it is almost everywhere! We learned a painting trick from our pastor that made it so much easier and made the job go by much faster!

The Breakfast Room

The trick we learned from Pastor Jerry made our job so much easier. All we had to do was tape the ceiling off. Our tape is actually on the ceiling. Then, we used caulk to run a line along the side of the tape that is touching the wall that is being painted. Next, Cliff smeared the caulk along the tape. This created a seal that prevented the paint from seeping through and onto the ceiling. When he peeled the tape off...we had a perfect line and ceiling did not get painted!
